What is Box of Shadows? What will I receive in each offering?

Modern witches, spiritual explorers, and advanced practitioners can expect a monthly restock of supplies with a membership to Box of Shadows. Available in 3 levels, this spiritually eclectic box brings a mix of spiritual tools and expert pagan guidance, helping every Circle Member enhance their practice -- whatever that looks like  -- and craft with everything from herbs and ritual supplies to altar decor, pagan-related lifestyle items, and energy-charged crystals and jewelry. In each box is also a carefully crafted informational insert. Our insert outlines the items in each box and their uses/correspondences. We also include practical tips, rituals, and recipes designed to facilitate an ongoing and consistent monthly practice. 

Do you include basic ritual supplies such as chime candles and smoke cleansing tools in the boxes? 

Yes, we do! We ship a 4" bundle of chime (ritual) candles and a smoke cleansing tool of some type (sage, palo santo, etc.) with each box quarterly (January, April, & September). 

Due to issues with melting, we will not ship chime candles May-August. Additional supplies may be acquired from the Box of Shadows Apothecary year-round.  

Please treat our packages like you would any perishable item being shipped (baked goods, chocolate candy, etc.) and do not leave the packages outside in the heat. If possible, ship to an address where someone can receive the package and bring it inside out of the sun/mailbox. A request can also be made for USPS to hold your mail at your local post office.

What is your stance on the use of sacred herbs (white sage/palo santo)? 

We are well aware of the closed practice of smudging and how the overharvesting of certain sacred herbs has impacted indigenous peoples and the environment. With respect to this, the smoke cleansing tools we offer are sourced from a well-vetted, local distributor. 

We also do not refer to herb bundles as "smudge sticks" in our printed media. As our Circle grows, we've ensured that all of the herbs we offer are sourced ethically. We have even gone as far as breaking relationships with vendors who are not transparent about their product's source. 

If you are uncomfortable using sacred herbs in your practice, please dispose of each item by returning it to the earth in a respectful manner or passing the tools on to a fellow practitioner.

Are your products vegan/eco-friendly? 

Respect for our planet is a fundamental belief in most pagan traditions. Because of this, we choose packaging that is eco-friendly and/or biodegradable whenever possible. 

Circle Members receive a gentle monthly reminder from EcoEnclose to reuse or recycle our boxes. Our inserts are also printed on recycled paper. Please visit the EcoEnclose website for more information on sustainable packaging. 

Very rarely will we include an item made with animal byproducts. Anytime we do so, we ensure that the product was ethically and sustainably sourced.   

Are the boxes discreetly packaged? 

Yes, our membership boxes arrive discreetly packaged inside a USPS Flat Rate envelope for our Circle Member's privacy. 

Due to their size, one-time specialty or Goddess series boxes (e.g., Samhain/Yule Goddess Box) cannot be shipped incognito. Please do not order these boxes if you are "in the broom closet" and require anonymity. 

When will my membership renew? What if my membership doesn't renew on time?

Memberships automatically renew on the 15th of each month.   

Prepaid memberships automatically renew after all boxes in the plan have shipped. 

Circle Members have ten (10) days to process their renewal. Any memberships in Past Due status after the 25th of the month will automatically expire. Please get in touch with us directly if an extension is required. 

I have updated my membership terms. When will these changes take effect? 

Once a membership has been purchased or renewed, changes to renewal terms and product offerings do not take effect until the next renewal cycle (the 15th of each month). Changes of address are updated immediately.

What is your shipping schedule? When will I receive my box/package?

Apothecary orders ship within 3-5 business days. 

Membership boxes typically ship between the 1st - 10th of each month. To receive the current month's box, orders must be placed by the 4th of that month. Memberships renew on the 15th of each month.

The shipping dates for Goddess series (Samhain, Yule, Litha, etc.) boxes may vary and are posted on the item's apothecary page.

All packages ship USPS Priority Mail and typically reach their destinations within three business days; up to a week for international customers. 

Circle Members will receive a shipping confirmation along with a tracking number by e-mail once their box ships. Our team WILL NOT answer emails regarding shipping before the 10th. 

Tracking may say “Not Found” or “Pre-Shipment” for 24-36 hours as the post office processes the order. If your order hasn’t moved in 72 hours, don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

Perishable Item Advisory: Since we often include candles, please treat our packages like you would any perishable item being shipped (baked goods, chocolate candy, etc.) and do not leave the packages outside in the heat. How much is shipping? Do you ship internationally?

Our membership boxes ship USPS Priority Mail for a flat-rate fee of $9. 

Due to their size, we cannot offer free shipping on one-time specialty or Goddess series boxes (e.g., Samhain/Yule Goddess Box).  All other domestic apothecary orders ship free.

YES, we ship internationally! International shipping is a $30 flat rate. We ask that international customers be patient with us. Boxes may take up to a week or more to be delivered. Memberships may renew before boxes reach their destinations. All customs charges and duties are the responsibility of the customer.

International Subscribers:
Any order shipped internationally from a United States warehouse may be subject to customs duties/fees as this is a factor of international trade. Additionally, we cannot include these fees in shipping charges, mark orders as 'gifts,' or adjust the price declared on orders. 

What do I do if my shipment has been returned to Box of Shadows?  

When a package is returned to Box of Shadows, we attempt to notify the addressee and reship. 

All returned packages will incur a reshipping fee of $15/box. Returned international shipments will incur a $30 fee. We will not reship unclaimed packages after 30 days.

Box of Shadows is not responsible for and will not reship unreturned packages lost due to an incorrect address.

An item in my box is broken or missing. What do I do?

If your box arrives incomplete or with broken items, please let us know ASAP so that we can replace it promptly.

My box arrived without an insert. Can I access it online?

Yes, past inserts and supplementary information can always be downloaded here. All supplemental information is typically uploaded by the 15th of each month.

Terms of Service

What is your refund/cancellation/return policy?

By clicking on 'Place Your Order' or 'Checkout,' you confirm that you accept our Terms of Service & that your memberships will automatically renew based on the membership billing period. Your credit card will automatically be charged the membership fee until you cancel your membership. All membership payments are final after renewal or purchase. Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. 

All sales are final. We do not accept returns, but will happily replace any item that arrives broken or damaged.

We do not offer partial refunds for pre-paid memberships. After cancellation, any unshipped boxes continue to ship as scheduled. 

Cancellations on or after the renewal date DO NOT automatically initiate refunds. Members are responsible for keeping track of memberships and renewal dates.

How do I cancel my membership? 

We hate to see you go! However, unsubscribing is quick and easy. Log in, click "My Account" in the drop-down box, click "EDIT" under "My Subscriptions," then click "Cancel Subscription." 

Did you know that you can skip your next renewal without canceling your subscription? Click 'Skip Next Renewal' on the 'My Subscriptions' page. 

 To avoid being charged for your next renewal, memberships must be canceled or put​ on hold BEFORE the renewal date (the 15th of each month). Cancellations on or after the renewal date DO NOT automatically initiate refunds. Members are responsible for keeping track of memberships and renewal dates.
